Beginning with the first AI boom in the 1980s, David Woods — Professor Emeritus in the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering at The Ohio State University — has studied and designed safe, effective human-AI systems across aviation, space, healthcare, disaster response, and critical software infrastructure.
